mini update on the boys under cut

(The photos are actually from April)

Sam is not crawling yet, not forwards anyway, but he walks great in his walker around the kitchen. He chases you around in his baby car! I think Bas starting crawling at 8.5 months.
He says Muh Muh when he is hungry. In the last few weeks he went from cutting his bottom left tooth to his top two (right side first) then the bottom right, and now the teeth beside the top two, left side first! It is crazy. Bas was so late to teethe.

Sam seems really smart, he really does seem to understand the word "no" which he hears when he scoots around the kitchen and attacks the trash cans :) He is still not one for eating solids. I have to hand it to BLW for freeing us to just give him unpureed food to hold in his hand and feed himself, like broccoli, carrots and spinach(!) which he will eat a little bit of. DH continues to persevere and gets some oatmeal spoonfuls in occasionally.

Basil is having behavioral troubles stemming (we think, because nothing else has changed) from the ill-advised changes at his preschool for summer. He will not go potty or wash his hands or do hardly anything he doesn't feel like doing without having a screaming meltdown. We are trying really hard to implement a stable token reward scheme with marbles in a jar. I'm not sure he really gets it. Interestingly, his behavior is most problematic when DH and I are together in trying to handle him.

Outside Basil is a much easier 3 yr old. We have been going to a swim class, which has been nice, but we walk past the beach to go into the swimming pool, and Basil would much rather go play at the beach. (It's the eponymous Long Beach, which is full of dangerous bacteria.) It is also less than ideal because the pool's shallow end is still too deep for children to stand up in it, and the water is cold they come out cyanotic, seriously, he was PURPLE! So he clings to me out of fear and also because he is freezing.
